Understanding the basics of it
Do you really know what is an auto glass made up of? Have you really observed a shattered windshield carefully? If you have, you would surely agree that a windshield glass is not made of single glass sheet. A wind shield comprises of two layers of glass pasted together along with a sheet of Poly Vinyl Butyrate placed right in between.
The PVB layer binds the two glass sheets together. A PVB sheet is basically placed in between the two glass sheets to ensure safety and durability. Thus, in case of an accident, the windshield does not shatter and this reduces the risk of damage to life.
Damaged windshields can be repaired and replaced as well. If you do not have an insurance cover, you might have to shell out a lot for getting a shattered windshield replaced. Thus, if it is a minor chip or crack, you must get it repaired instead of getting it replaced.
These days, auto glass repair specialists are skilled enough to fix the ugliestof cracks perfectly well. They have all sorts of state of the art tools, adhesives and polishing resins to fix the crack and bring back the original look.
