Knowing Whether to Repair or Replace Your Windshield
You’re driving down the road, and all of a sudden out of nowhere you hear your windshield crack! What are you supposed to do now? There used to be a time when you would have to replace your entire windshield but nowadays you’ll find that most companies can repair minor cracks without having to replace the entire windshield.
You’ve just saved a good chunk of money and time, but how do you know when it should be replaced or repaired? Any damage that is severe is going to have to result in a total replacement. You can’t repair a crack that starts from one side and spans to the other. Not even the most skilled technician can repair that.
Also, if the crack is smaller than 12 inches, there’s a pretty good chance companies can do a simple repair. However, each company is different so make sure you talk to the technician beforehand. Where the crack is located also plays a huge factor as to whether or not you’ll need a replacement or not.
If you’re going to need a replacement, always go with a company that offers replacements since going with a dealer is going to cost you an arm and a leg!
