Staying Safe on Your Motorcycle Part Two

While the aeroshield on a motorcycle is only small, the design it uses requires you to be leaning forward in the most aerodynamic position in order to make the most of the redirected wind. This means you will still need to look through the shield, and as you’ll be looking through the visor on your helmet too, it’s incredibly important that you can see through it clearly. Make sure you wash it thoroughly before you go and inspect for any chips or cracks – even if these are small they may be enough distract you or to block out something small on the horizon and that could be enough to cause an accident. If your windshield is starting to look a little worse for wares, then you will need to get it either replaced or repaired.
Following that you should make other spot checks, such as checking that you have adequate amounts of petrol, that your tyres are as full as they can be etc etc. Once you’ve done all that then it’s just a matter of driving safely on the road.
Remember, just because you can weave through traffic doesn’t mean you always should. You should still respect the speed limit and try not to overtake on the inside which can startle other drivers. If you’re on the motorway, make sure you stop regularly for breaks and don’t drive when you’re too tired.
