How is a Windshield Repaired?
The majority of us are vary of getting our windshield replaced, since we feel that it will take days and we shall be stranded without a vehicle for that period of time. However technology has made rapid strides, and now the process is much simpler and quick to be completed.
When you take your car to a windshield repair expert, his first task will be to adequately cover your car with a drape so that he does not scratch any other part. He will then clean the crack or chip, to remove all moisture and grime.
If it is a small crack or chip, then resin will be inserted in it with the help of an injector. This resin not only repairs the crack but also prevent further damage.
The resin is then covered with Mylar, so that it remains flat and in place. Later it is hardened with the help of ultraviolet rays. Any extra resin is removed, the windshield is polished and the car is ready to be moved.
This is a fairly generalised way of repairing a windscreen. The process normally does not take more than half an hour, and it is time well spent, since you are preventing further damage to your auto glass by doing this.
