Auto Glass Repair – Some Do It Yourself Tips

What do you do when the windshield gets damaged? Well, depending upon the intensity of damage you can either auto glass repair it or replace it. If you opt to do the repairs on your own, here are some basic things to keep in mind.

Step 1 – Start with buying a windshield repair kit through your local auto supply shop. These kits usually include a small bottle of resin, suction cup, and various rags.

Step 2 – Ensure that the surface of the windshield is kept clean. If the glass is not clean, use good window cleaner to clean the surface off dust and dirt.

Step 3 – Attach the suction cup to the damaged area ensuring the hole is directly over the chipped surface; then press the device down toward the glass.

Step 4 – Tighten the plastic tube inside the hole. Then place the resin tube into the tube situated in the suction device. Then take the plastic tube’s center plunger and twist all the way down. Allow the tube to settle.

Step 5- Finally, cover the surface with a sheet of clear finishing film; remove it after 10 minutes. Scrap away any remaining resin. That’s it! You have successfully repaired your damaged glass.
